Job description

CMC Markets is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Quantitative Operations Analyst to join our Quantitative Analysis team.

This front-office aligned role is critical to ensuring the robustness, performance, and responsiveness of our pricing and risk systems during live trading.

You will work closely with traders, quant researchers, and developers to provide real-time system support, advanced analytics, and automation, directly contributing to the firm’s trading performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Real-Time System Monitoring & Incident Response

  • Proactively monitor model performance of pricing and hedging systems.

  • Investigate and resolve pricing, model, or data anomalies during trading hours.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for the trading desk on system performance issues.

  • Analytics & Revenue Support

  • Perform ad hoc investigations into revenue drivers and trading flows.

  • Develop and maintain diagnostic and reporting tools (e.g., Jupyter notebooks).

  • Provide analytics to assess model performance, pricing accuracy, and hedging effectiveness.

  • Automation & Reporting

  • Build and maintain scripts and tools to automate recurring tasks (e.g., configuration checks, activity reviews, report generation).

  • Manage automation pipelines using schedulers (e.g., Airflow, Cron).

  • Enhance automation and stress-testing frameworks to improve resilience.

  • Quant Research Collaboration

  • Support researchers in sourcing, cleaning, and validating data.

  • Develop tools and processes that accelerate research iteration and ensure robustness.

  • Assist in validating and deploying new models into production.

  • Codebase & System Maintenance

  • Contribute to the shared Python codebase across quant and trading infrastructure.

  • Identify performance bottlenecks and propose architectural improvements.

  • Ensure code quality through testing, documentation, and reproducibility.

  • KEY SKILLS &​ EXPERIENCE

  • Strong academic background in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering).
  • Proficiency in Python (pandas, NumPy, etc.); familiarity with automation and scheduling tools is a plus.

  • Prior experience in a trading, quant, or operations environment desirable but not essential.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond quickly under pressure.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to interact effectively with traders, quants, and developers.
