As a Systems Engineer in Warsaw, you will join a dynamic IT team supporting biotech innovation, with a core focus on compute, storage, virtualization, and automation.
You will be at the forefront of driving reliability and performance optimization across Moderna’s hybrid on-prem/cloud environment.
Collaborating with senior engineers and application teams, you will build resilient infrastructure that underpins Moderna’s digital platforms.
Your expertise in monitoring, configuration management, and backup strategies will ensure continuity and scalability for critical operations.
The role also brings exposure to automation frameworks and scripting, enabling efficiencies and supporting innovation.
As part of Moderna’s global IT operations, you will be engaged in incident response, troubleshooting, and 24/7 operational support.

Here’s What You’ll Do
Your key responsibilities will be:
Manage virtualization platforms (VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V, or similar).
Provision, monitor, and maintain virtual machines across on-prem and cloud environments.
Apply patches and security updates; ensure platform reliability and performance.
Automate patching and system updates using configuration management tools (Ansible, SCCM, WSUS or similar).
Collaborate closely with senior engineers and application teams to support critical services.
Your responsibilities will also include:
Operate monitoring and automation tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Stack, Aria Operations, SaltStack, Ansible).
Implement automated configuration and deployment using agent-based or agentless tools.
Administer enterprise storage platforms (Pure Storage, NetApp, Dell EMC, or similar).
Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and routine storage management.
Support hybrid backup strategies with tools like Veeam, Commvault, or Rubrik.
Maintain SAN technologies, including zoning and connectivity (Brocade, Cisco MDS, or similar).
Perform patching and configuration on Linux-based systems.
Develop automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, YAML, or JSON.
Support integration with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
Manage cloud resources via portals and CLI tools.
Serve as an escalation point for infrastructure incidents, providing troubleshooting and resolution.
Document SOPs, runbooks, and recovery procedures.
Participate in a global 24/7 on-call rotation.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
4–6 years of experience in systems engineering focused on compute, virtualization, and storage.
Proficiency with virtualization platforms and automation tools.
Experience in Linux patching and configuration.
Familiarity with backup, recovery, and monitoring systems.
Familiarity with public cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
Strong scripting and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in regulated environments (e.g., GxP) or willingness to learn compliance frameworks.
Deep knowledge of storage architectures, SAN zoning, and performance optimization.
Industry certifications (e.g., virtualization, cloud, backup, storage solutions).
Interest in or ability to grow into AI infrastructure support (e.g., SQL, APIs).
