Our Software teams manage the deployment and operation of tens of thousands of hosts to support customer applications for 100's of thousands virtual machines.
As a Site Reliability Engineer Intern, you'll participate in the whole software development life cycle. You will develop big data applications and services with high reliability and massive scale on top of Akamai's growing Linode Compute platform.
As a participant in our program, you will gain valuable experience and contribute through meaningful project work. You will have the opportunity to join us for training, networking events, and engagements with company leadership. Our internships are open to students and graduates.

In this role, you will help create tools to analyze the performance of the Linode platform. The project will use a graph DB to represent the configuration of VPCs over their layered physical and logical components. The graph DB could enable calculation of aggregate VPC behavior, impact of one misbehaving customer on others, and the potential impact of component failure.
As a Site Reliability Intern, you will be responsible for:
Programming in Julia or Python Creating tools to help internal SRE users by integrating open source libraries Testing, debugging, and deploying the tools against billions measurements Presenting the results to potential internal users Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
Be a graduate or advanced undergrad that is interested in Data Science, Symbolic Reasoning, or Machine Learning in the context of operating large systems Have skills in at least two (not necessarily all) of these areas: Data Analyst: e.g. Julia/Python Data Analysis Libraries, SQLGraph Databases: e.g. Property Graphs (Neo4j), Semantic Graphs (OWL/RDF)Visualization: e.g. Holoviz/Panel, Plotly, GrafanaVM Domain Knowledge: e.g. Containers, Kubernetes, Cloud Native, Routing ProtocolsPerformance Analysis: e.g. Queuing Theory, Health Checks, Reliability Analysis, Security AnalysisObservability: e.g. Prometheus, Jaeger, Datadog, Dynatrace Work in a way that works for you
Our 6-month interm program starts in July. The program requires you to be available 40 hours per week during summer months (July-September). We offer the opportunity to work part-time during the academic year (October-December).
